Native American Navajo Style Pottery Canister Set

The pottery is a 5-piece canister set: sugar, flour, coffee, tea, and what appears to be a teapot.

Description

The pottery consists of 5 graduated containers with lids. The pottery is artist signed; two of the containers read: KAELEE NAVAJO ’05; three of the containers read: KLEE NAVAJO ’05. The five containers are graduated in size and all the containers are different shapes: bulbous, cylindrical, s-curved, and a straight sided shaped. The lids are also different: 2 lids have an s-curved shape with 2 different size knobs, 1 lid has a straight-sided shape with a low knob, 1 lid hasn’t any knob, and 1 lid has an open arc top with the lid having a triangular opening. All the 5 pieces have etched designs in a motif of stepped patterns and a feather and a motif similar to a Greek key design. The inside of the containers have an orange glossy glaze, as well as the inside of the lids. The containers have a semi-mottled glaze; the bottom of the containers have a semi-mottled brown and orange glaze. Kaelee is a Native American Navajo name meaning “willow tree”, and is a masculine form and a variant of “Kaelee”. Made in the Navajo style. The pottery is a 5-piece canister set: sugar, flour, coffee, tea, and what appears to be a teapot.
