Extra Notes

This practical table is in superb original condition. The design is copied from George III and Federal examples.

In the eighteenth century rectangular drop leaf tables were often part of a larger extending table with a pair of D-shaped ends which would form a pair of side tables when detached from the central drop leaf section. It enabled a dining room to have the table set to the side for other pursuits such as music, dancing and singing.
