A Hamadan carpet, North West Persia, wool on cotton foundation,

Description:  the blue field with a column of four red joined lozenge medallions supported by scattered flower heads, a red outer surround and spandrels, within a blue flower head border.

Measurements:                 84″ L x  48″ W

Condition:                               excellent

Extra Notes:     The weave indicates an origin as specified. Within the Hamadan district, there are some 150 villages and towns producing rugs of similar construction and character, each with their own tradition of rug weaving.
