Description
An elegant American carved painted upholstered window seat, of large proportions in the eighteenth century style, with foliate carving and scrolling arm supports, above a loose seat cushion with matching bolsters, resting on six carved cabriole legs ending in scroll feet. A perfect bench for a hall as a window seat, or sitting at the end of a bed.
Extra Notes: This window seat or bench is a superb copy of an eighteenth century design and shares some of the characteristics of French furniture from that period. It is also reminiscent of George III examples in the French taste and sometimes referred to as French Hepplewhite after deigns published by George Hepplewhite in the French style.
