Description
An elegant stunning, mahogany tilt-top piecrust, birdcage, tripod table by Kittinger Furniture Company, Buffalo, New York. Expertly handcrafted, with fine carved details. Constructed in the First half 20th century. The circular revolving top above the birdcage action center supported with turned and stop fluted pillars. The splayed legs with carved knees and ending in carved claw feet. Remaining in excellent original condition. Tilted up in a vertically position as a statement piece or for easy storage.
The birdcage support was very innovative when it was introduced in the eighteenth century as it allowed for the table top to revolve and tilt whilst being secure upon a central pillar and the tripod base provided a firm stance upon uneven floor surfaces.
A superb statement piece for any interior or serious collector of American furniture, with warm presence, a perfect table for a living room, bedroom or library.
