An elegant stunning antique Beidermeir Sofa of French origin, a true work of art. Uniquely designed and crafted of excellent proportions and overall form with fine stylized lines, expertly handcrafted. Constructed in the 19th century from maple offering ultimate comfort raised upon four scrolled feet and features an unusual storage trundle beneath the seating. The arms are carefully scrolled and of perfect form as the arching of the back which complements the seat. The shaped back is humped in the “camel-back” form. The raised camelback rail boldly displays an exquisitely chiseled rope molding the carvings are well preserved with detail highlighted inset upholstered makes up the sides and back, the seat cushion is loose with contrasting welt. This sofa represents the highest taste of style and is a wonderfully versatile piece. Its patina and wear are excellent for its age. This fine settee features a lustrous figured maple finish, (possibly birdseye) adding a beautiful warm rich patina. True to the pure, the underside and back are exposed of secondary wood simple fabrication: clean and symmetrical cuts of thick pine join the structure, upholstery in overall “excellent” condition with very minor discoloration and wear, a very sturdy and comfortable piece. A superb statement piece for any interior with warm presence makes it a perfect statement piece for a living room, bedroom or library.
