Four panel hand carved Indian screen room divider

A four panel folding Indian screen made of solid wood. Lovely double-sided hand painted four panel screen, room divider, hand carved decoration on both sides in a beautiful rich overall patina, fantastic colors, versatile piece, originally made to divide a room, so there is no front or back, both sides are equally superb, would make a great headboard, ideal in conservatory, living room and office for privacy.  Original hinges allows the panel to easily lift and carry. The dark background is richly decorated with painted variety of flowers and leaves wooden panels are coated with flowering design and carved into the lacquer before paint is applied creating a texture surface with recessed colors. Hand painted detail work. The elaborate hand carved screen is fashioned from hardwood and is appointed with 36 miniature painted panels, vividly painted and in good state of preservation, based on the form first produced in India during the British period.
