A remarkably well developed French Walnut Fauteuil. This gorgeous provincial form of chair is nicely complimented by the velvet upholstery. The stuffed cushion is very comfortable. The surface full of gentle patina, the carvings throughout the frame are typical for the style. The crest rail with shells and foliate scrollwork over a round molding apron with a collection of shells and foliate scrollwork. The triple panel buttoned back above padded low arms with scroll arm facings enclosing a loose seat cushion. Both front legs are carved with floral arrangements over the gentle cabriole of the leg, both terminating in tightly scrolled toes. This tub form of the chair is particularly attractive but also very comfortable a wonderful piece, full of life and character. Well preserved, sturdy and strong throughout. This is an attractive chair that will certainly be a cherished part of any well designed interior.
