A remarkable, carved and gilded three drawer chest designed by William A. Berkey, a division of the John Widdicomb Co. in the 1950s. Features gorgeous wood case in a honey pecan color on sides and top, three beautifully hand painted gilded drawer fronts, ornately carved with deep relief, distressed gold leaf detail. The chest/table rest on turned bun feet. This fine chest retains its original finish, label and all original elements, has remained in a single collection since it was acquired by the prior owner. The manufacturer’s mark stamped on the interior of the top drawer. (Wm. A. Berkey Furn. Co. Est. 1881, A Division of John Widdicomb) Berkey furniture company was a maker of high end fine English furniture, and purchased by Widdicomb in 1950. This is a strikingly unique and amazingly elegant piece that would look absolutely gorgeous in a living room or bedroom as a nightstand, end or accent table.
Condition Report: Original finish and pulls, incredibly minor surface wear. No gouges, or cracks no finish problems. Very sturdy, strong.
