Description
Beautiful vintage (1970’s) Chinese Asian Oriental 4-panel gold lacquer gilt screen room divider decorated in bone and hardstones, tapered on the edge to fit the circular shape, exquisitely hand- painted featuring intricate details of figures vividly hand carved against the gold lacquer background decoration depicts a panoramic view of a traditional Chinese social courtyard scene in ancient time. With 3-dimensional iridescent acrylic designs of Chinese ladies, a pagoda and accents on the front. This is part inspired by coromandel screens exported from China to Europe in the 17th century. However, this is a late rendition and interpretation. The reverse, an elegantly simple gilt gold ferns and leaves softly painted design against the finished black lacquer background. Raised from the floor on simple carved feet. Treasured for its contribution in Feng Shui according to which a rectangular room should be balanced with a prominent round object such as this artistic quality round floor screen. Is in very nice condition age related wear, with some of the lacquer cracking. Imported from China, a fine example of classic Chinese screen art, incredibly detailed.
