A remarkable Danish teak, mid-century Queen platform bed with floating nightstands by Jesper of Denmark. Maker’s label on back “Jesper”, including two sets of slats for extra support. Exceptional construction and style. Featuring a stunning headboard with hanging, floating, nightstands, both with a wide surface area for placement of articles; such as, snacks, drinks and reading materials, above a spacious slide out drawer and open lower cubby area for storage. The wood grain is naturally highlighted in a teak pattern throughout, with a rich teak tone. Attractive classic modernist quality and design piece for the modern home. An exceedingly well-crafted bed, this piece has been very well taken care of over the years, one that will certainly make a powerful impression on a clean and modern interior décor.
Condition Report: Original slats supports included, and for extra support additional pine slats on top of this bed, is in good vintage condition, with very few signs of wear from use. construction is sturdy. The platform is in good structural condition. Hardware on one siderail does not fit tight in the interior of the back right corner rail, due to missing veener and hardware, shown in photos. We suggest using a L bracket in this area. All other pieces fit snugly together and are sturdy with all original hardware a few missing pegs. The beautiful teak finish shows well. This bed will come disassembled and will require 2 people to reassemble.
Headboard is 29.5″ tall Overall width of the headboard including the nightstands is 106.75″ wide. Depth from against a wall to foot end of bed is 85”. From the floor to the top of the platform 15” tall. Nightstands are 20” wide x 15” deep x 16 1/2 ” high.
ABOUT THE MAKER
Jesper International was founded in 1935 in the little town of Ulfborg in western Denmark. The furniture factory was established as Hundevad and Co. and was run by skilled Danish cabinet makers who paid high attention to quality and traditional woodworking skills. These same principles play an important role in their production today. In 1990, the company became Jesper Office as Hundevad and Co. merged with Danish furniture manufacturer, Jesper International.
