Description
Remarkable iconic teak sideboard / low bench, or side table rare, model No 394, designed by famous Danish designer Kai Kristiansen for Aksel Kjersgaard, in Denmark. Designed in 1954/5 and in production until 1963/4. Features a lovely low profile with a proportionally perfectly balanced form. The top is a beautiful grain pattern of teak, above side-by-side double drawers featuring sculpture recessed circular finger-pull handles. The strategic central placement of the pulls between upper and lower drawers cleverly creates the illusion of two single drawers. The legs are made of solid teak. The back side is imprinted by the manufacturer with the serial number. (Danish Control Aksel Kjersgaard made in Denmark No 394). A true collector’s piece, extremely rare, well documented in general design literature. Its petite dimension makes a powerful, unique statement, with clean graceful lines. This elegant low sideboard will add charm to any modern interior.
