Description
Stunning long framed sofa, mid-century modern in original upholstery. An exceptional sofa both for its form and quality. This sofa embodies the whimsical fervor of the period, from 1950s and 1960s post-war, set over stylish sculptural legs, all with geometric and curvilinear shapes, as well as clean, sculptural lines, made from a mix of natural and manmade materials.
This Convertible Sofa, an MCM classic in the manner of Peter Hvidt, has straight sides and back that fold inward by hinge to create a twin platform bed. Embellished with caning on the arms, (caning is tight, slight wear in caning on one side, shown in photo), resting on sculptural legs, with a two cushion back and single seat cushion upholstered in tweed, making this sofa just as comfortable as it is beautiful, with amazing form, original upholstery is in fantastic condition no rips or tears. The sofa is unmarked, manufacturer’s label has been lost due to time but of remarkable quality and design. This time capsule is an absolute treasure of a find for anyone passionate about excellent grade of quality in their collection. A very comfortable piece, having distinctive characteristic of its time, crafted to last many generations and is well cared for, remains young in years. This sofa is rarely offered. It is an investment quality selection, bringing visual interest and pleasure to any modern home for years to come, it remains a stylish piece that will blend seamlessly with any genre of design.
