Description
An absolutely spectacular one-piece hutch by Lane Furniture, AltaVista VA circa 1960s. Featuring richly grained two-tone walnut wood creating a unique “backgammon board” type pattern. The base, resting on recessed tapered legs, features two generous drawers with beautiful brass and wood grain knobs. Makers Stamp (Lane AltaVista, VA) inside top drawer. The drawers are slightly recessed, creating a nice frame effect. The upper hutch features two doors with magnetic closures which open to reveal remarkable storage design elements. Six square cubicles of equal size resting on three small drawers with brass knobs provide space for shoes and personal items when used in a bedroom setting, or for dishes, linens in a dining room. An open top shelf offers additional storage space. A small mirror is mounted on the inside of the right door, and stunning brass piano hinges are exposed when the doors are open. The vertical wood pattern on the upper piece in distinct contrast to the horizontal wood grain of the base create a magnificent profile. Versatile and unique, this hutch will make a stunning appearance in a bedroom, dining room or entryway. A superb illustration of Lane Furniture Co. craftsmanship!
