Remarkable and stately L-shaped executive desk by Leopold Desk Company of Burlington, Iowa, circa 1950s. A true example of the extraordinary craftsmanship for which Leopold was known. Original makers label (Leopold Desk Company) present in drawer. Featuring rich walnut accented with beautiful brass drawer pulls and feet caps creating a handsome profile. Unique design elements not only provide character, but also add to the functionality of this piece. The desktop is spacious and contains three left drawers adorned with gorgeous brass pulls. The top drawer features dividers/compartments for pens and accessories. Extending from the right underneath side of the desk is long narrow, cleverly creating the “L” shape. Featuring an open mid-section for books, etc., flanked by a one-shelf open compartment on the right and a hidden corner cabinet on the left that opens to reveal two compartments for storage of paper, etc. Six slender legs, one of which uniquely extends beyond the top of the right side of the L to a circular top surface. The desk is supported by tapered legs with brass ferules. Full of character and extraordinary style, this iconic desk offers ample working and organizational space to accommodate two people and will add instant panache to any office!
