Horning is …”Always hoping to capture that fleeting moment when the light is just right, when a dramatic shadow falls across a petal, or backlighting imparts a special glow around its edges. It’s like nature’s own special effects.”  Horning was also influenced by the impressionistic painter Monet when she attended his exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Elizabeth J. Horning was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1943.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1965.  As a student, Elizabeth was on the Dean’s List and European Honors Program, and received a Royal Bailey Farnum scholarship and Ford and Carnegie Foundation grants.
