A stunning, rare pair of mid-century modern 1960s teak, lounge arm chairs designed by Peter Hvidt & Orla Molgaard Nielsen for France & Daverkosen in 1954 made in Denmark. An exceptional pair, both for their form and quality. The pair embodies the whimsical fervor of the period, from 1960s. Featuring a solid teak frame produced from laminated beech topped with a thick veneer of teak, with dramatic swooping bi color armrests, formed with perfection as they flow seamlessly to meet the tapered, round legs. The back cushion rest against a seven spindle backrest, the seat cushion rest on (France & Daverkosen) loop superspring base patent applied. The back and seat cushions make these chairs just as comfortable as they are beautiful, with amazing form. The side profile is an absolute visual charm. The seats retain the original branded manufacturer’s mark (France & Daverkosen made in Denmark) under the cushion along the back edge This is an early France & Son production. The pair, very well-crafted, and will certainly make a powerful impression on a clean and modern interior décor.
Condition Report: Amazing authentic condition throughout with only minor wear/scuffs. Original upholstery is in fantastic condition no rips or tears, with minimal fading and minor wear. Comfortable and very sturdy.
