An exceptional mid-century modern extension dining table designed by the legendary Michael Taylor for Baker Furniture, circa 1960s. This sophisticated piece beautifully bridges Hollywood Regency elegance with clean-lined Scandinavian modern restraint. The racetrack-shaped table top features an exquisite, highly figured walnut grain with a subtly banded edge. The table is supported by elegant, tapered round legs that seamlessly integrate into the corners of the apron and finish in striking, original tailored brass-capped feet. Designed with versatility in mind, this remarkable dining table comes with three 14” extension leaves to accommodate extra seating, transforming seating capacity from four, six or eight. With three leaves inserted, this table expands to 96″(8 ft. feet) long! Bearing the original “Baker Furniture” maker’s mark underneath, this table is a testament to the master-tier craftsmanship and premium material selection for which the manufacturer is renowned. It remains a timeless centerpiece perfect for contemporary, transitional, or period-correct mid-century dining spaces.
Condition Report: Very Good vintage condition. The table retains its beautiful original finish with rich wood coloration and minimal wear to the primary tabletop. Extension leaves exhibit minor, localized cosmetic wear along the outer edge (consistent with age and occasional handling during insertion/storage). This minor blemish does not affect the structural integrity or overall stunning presentation of the table when fully assembled. Table is very sturdy and strong.
