A rare set of six stunning Mid Century, Modern, stackable, high back, rosewood, senior, dining chairs part of the “Scandia” series, designed by Hans Brattrud for Hove Mobler, Norway, circa 1957. One of the most unique designs to come from the Mid Century Scandinavian era in 1967 which is seldom available to the public. A beautiful example of fine Scandinavian Modern craftsmanship features modern styling with a distinct, beautiful, design. Perfected in bent rosewood, curved, slats that form the back and seat of the chair. The curved back provides lumbar support making these as comfortable as they are beautiful. The chairs sit on a chrome base that forms a hairpin frame of bent metal. The lines and attention to detail are exquisite. Classic mid-century modern styling with sturdy, solid construction. The “Scandia” stackable chair received the Award for Design Council. and was awarded a gold medal at the International arts and crafts fair in Munich. This set of six is the rare “Senior” version which showcases a flawless desirable design offering maximum comfort with the high back. Most of the “Scandia” chairs were produced under the moniker “junior” version with the low-back.
Condition Report: In very good vintage condition. All joints are sturdy and tight, original warm rosewood finish in good condition.
